hello.
At last after 15 years of service,my 2 front airbags filled with cracks just gave up.both of them are heavily leaking.
Went 2 the truck yesterday night and found the whole front end of my truck sleeping and the a$$ is standing lol.
Put the key in ignition and got eas fault (yeah like i didn't know).
Started the truck and left the door open, then when copressor stoped i closed the door and the front end rose then air gushed away and it went fastly down again.
I checked the valve block and couldn't feel air coming from lines, while i heard the air gushing from the airbags.
It happened b4 and it is happening only when it gets breezy at nights.like the airbags are contracting in the cold.
I want 2 replace the airbags, dunlop are for 200$ the pairs, and arnott are for 80$ the pair.
I am just amazed how they lasted for 15 years.
Now in the mornings with hot weather airbags are not leaking.
What do u reckon the dunlop or arnott?

If you like a softer ride on road, harder off Dunlops are the ones to go for, Arnotts will give a higher spring rating on road softer off. I went for Dunlops after speaking to my indi LR garage, they say they've had probs with Arnotts, although alot of people rate them on here. Up to you.

Arnotts will give you a lifetime warranty I have been informed. They are a much better ride too. Just fitted them and very happy with them.

And what precisely does life time warranty mean. There warranted til they fail then the warranty runs out. Not worth the paper it's written on.

hat up 4u gents,
The truck rarely goes off road.what realy surprises me is tht the bags should have been changed since 7 years ago,p38 do make people crazy.when we hear about reliability issues on these trucks we get scared.what about an airbag which sustains alot of beating, hard weather, flexibility,on top of that a big heavy load of a 2.5 tons vehicle, and plus that full of cracks, and i never saw my truck on the bump stops (exept recently only the front and due to breezy nights in the mountain).p38 are a heavy duty trucks when maintained properly.i find them reliable if they r properly maintained.
I had an e36 6 cylinders bmw,i have driven it for 80k kms,i have replaced the rad, water pump,2 times tstat,2 times front shocks, rear shocks, rear shock mounts 4 times, oil separator,3 times track rods each side,3 times ball joints each side, steering box, rotors, hevac unit,vc fan clutch 2 times, central lock in one door, steering axle, purge canister,2times rear bearings each side ,and plus the filters and stuff.
As for airbags,Still waiting 4 more point of views in regards to them.here in lebanon most dealers and garages recomend the dunlop, but few p38 owners like me know abt lz forum, wht shocks me is tht the arnott are cheaper than the dunlop, almost half the price, although in europe it is the opposite.

You old cynic:rolleyes: your worse than me:p There has been at least one person on here that got a free replacement when an end cap split:D

It means what it means.....The manufacture date is on each airbag and if they fail, they will replace them.
And they was not written on paper....I have seen ot in my screen!

So what is a life time 1,2,3,4,5, 100 years? It means they are guaranteed until they fail. Then you buy new ones that is their life time. So in eight or ten years time when they are all perished and worn out they will still change them if they burst. Bet you they don't. It's a play on words to make the buyer feel safe. Means nothing, the manufacturer decides what a life time consists of, not the buyer.

You are getting Arnott Gen IIs for $40 US each?? Wow! Is that the regular price in Lebanon or is it a special deal or something?

i have just replaced the airbags on my 1995 range rover with dunlops, you will find there are two sides to this, the arnott airbags are better off road, the dunlops suit me,you may need to look at older posts, and make up your own mind,i paid £75 a corner for the airbags, you could convert to springs but again it is down to personnel preference, but bear in mind these vehicles were not desingned to run with springs.

hi rasheed marhaba.
that's wht the parts dealer said to me,but i dunno which gen of arnott.he told me i have arnott for 40$ each, and the oem dunlop for 100$ each, and he recommended the dunlop and said that arnott are not good,so did the range rover specialist mechanic.

there is a little faint voice inside my mind telling me go with dunlop, hell they lasted 15 years, and i intend to keep my p38 for a long time.i have read through old threads and read people arguing about air springs.
think it just goes to preferences for the driving style.
anyway, shocks and airsprings threads are never ending, people express their experiences, advices, and thoughts.
some search for warranty, some for comfort, some for off roading, some for long serving time.it depends.when it comes for my opinion i am considering comfort in on road situations, durability, and when it comes to parts ,i usually stick with oem unless they r extreamly expensive (like the oem vc fan clutch at 300$)

Arnotts are normally more expensive than Dunlops so if you can get them at $40 buy 2 sets and keep the second for spares or sell them on Ebay for the normal price which would pay for your Dunlops with cash to spare.

Guaranteed for life, means guaranteed until they fail. It means nothing. If they don't fail you don't need a guarantee. When they fail that is the end of their life. Are you having trouble taking this in? If the guarantee was for 5, 10 years that would mean something. They will probably last 8 or 10 years then fall apart, so will the cheaper Dunlops, will you have the vehicle then? If you have money to burn buy them. But don't spend the extra cash because they have a so called lifetime warranty, it is worthless.:):):)

Think he may have left a naught off there somewhere?;););)

I have just replaced the orginal dunlop airsprings on my 1995 4.6 with another set of Dunlops. The orginals lasted 15 years.
I did think of using Arnotts II but I have read many times that these have failed prematurely ,sometimes within weeks of fitting. The Arnott 111 airsprings appear to be better, but are much more expensive than the Dunlops.

As regards the lifetime warranty,my understanding is it is for the life of the product as specified by the manufacturer.Ie if the manufacturer recommends that the product must be inspected at X intervals, and replaced if showing certain symtoms or after Y years use ,whichever comes first. Therefore if the product fails before Y years has been reached, they will replace it,if after they will not.ie Y years is the products lifetime.
