hi everyone:

before answering, take a look at this: 14 year old seeking advice!!

that way I won't have to re-write it twice :)!

now, does anyone have any tips about what to do first? we know we have a long road ahead of us, but it'd be nice to have some place to start! also, the oil seems to be very sludgy, does anyone know why this may be?

thanks!

ebben in vermont, usa

Do not let the name Land rover scare you. Go to Barnes and Noble and get a repair manual. They are no different than a 60's ford or chevy 4x4. Just will cost you more money for parts.

thanks for the help. i figured you could click on the link, and then see all of the other replies. i don't need help from people who want to criticize what i'm doing......

Just do not pay attention to them:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: They like to beat up Yankees makes them feel big, they don't quite see things as we do. Any way it is there way to give you **** and see if you cry and go home or hang tough. there are several good people on here just stay with it.

PLEASE do a good search before you ask to many questions.( otherwise these big brute of men could spank your ass, a couple would enjoy that:eek::eek:)
As if you type in the question into the putter a answer will show itself and most questions will self answer themselves with careful thought.

Have you done a search for land rover series parts, there is a supplier near you. and how many thousand do you plan on spending??? 6-10K

yeah……………………………………..no.

14 year old + interesting + american……….yeah cos thats a great combo of words ?

And you are a 19 year old wise ass Scot kid with money going to college. Give the kid a break seems as you would understand being a kid your self, wasn't long ago you was 14

thank you to the few of you who have been kind to me.

now, as my last words on this forum, i would like to say that this forum reminds me of the american revolutionary war, where little america kicked big england's ass!

bye.

Wrong answer they will eat you up and **** you out.Take it easy JR I know people from Vermont are Garnet heads

advise for a 14 year old...

go find a girl, get laid, enjoy life for a few years, then, when you're a bit older and realised women are a right pain in the arse get into Landy's... the one true love... and enjoy the rest of your life.

hey mate, welcome to the landy zone. some of the regulars can be a little abrasive if you dont take their humour it can get pretty heavy my advice would be just roll with, it take it on the chin but dont use any words you get off here at home. congratulations on your landy looks good i think those series 3s with the metal chicken wire grill look better than the plastic grill. with regards to the resto first things first start tapping around in the chassis and see how solid it is. post some pics, when i was 14 i had my dads series 2 that i was working on, its simple nut and bolt work so a good starting point.

also i know some of the comments have been unhelpful but trying to wind people up or get your own back by bringing the war of independence or the rumour that all brits have yellow teeth drink tea and talk with a cockney accent is a load of bull. its like us saying every american is a gun toting mc donalds eating inbreed hillbilly with few teeth and a banjo, yes there are a few of them around but they do not represent the population of america.

but on a note to some of the users i know im relatively new here but a 14 year old kid being slated to the point of leaving the forum because he didnt copy and paste his previous post is beyond playful banter. he may have taken it a bit harder than we may have but he was hardly given time to see how the banter from this forum came about.

im sure you will be missed:cool:
I'm going to miss him, and I haven't properly met him yet. The kid's got moxy. If he's lurking I'd say to him, "You've come to the best Land Rover forum in existence, with the biggest gathering of big brains on the subject you can find in one place, and most of them are a bit.........odd. Oh and rude. And profane. And smart. And dumb.""

That makes sense because we all drive Land Rovers.

I'm thinking the lad has what it takes to roll with the big dogs of the Rover world, if he comes back.

Edit: There is no whining allowed here, however Master GeniusAndHisAssistant.
