My gearbox in ex-MOD 110 V8 has developed some really nasty noises and difficult to engage 5th to 4th & 3rd to 2nd. The transfer box doesn't sound too good either. Do any of you clever folk know which alternative gearbox & transfer box will fit? Or is it a rebuild on the existing boxes?

contact Ashcroft transmisions they do a r380 gear box that will fit with slight modifications to the gear box tunnel ithink your transfer box would bolt straight on tel. no.01582 496040

Thanks for the fast response! I had a look at Ashcrofts first thing, I was just wondering if other 'boxes would fit while I sent the original items to Ashcroft for rebuilding. The courier from here would be mega-expensive there & back. Appreciate your reply.

std v8 r380 or a v8 lt77will fit but tunnel is slightly different as r380 is taller at the rear which means the r380 tunnel and mod to seat box, lt85 also uses different hi/ko linkage and housing on the t/box

Thanks for the info. I've got an ex-Discovery 1 LT77 and transfer box, this was from a 200Tdi. It's got the long primary shaft & bellhousing. If I've got to modify the seatbox, wondering if altering it to take this gear lever arrangement would make sense?
Perhaps suffer the surcharge and get the right 'boxes rebuilt! Cheers for your help.

Discovery V8 r380 and bell housing should fit but gearchange would be wrong (ashcroft do a convsersion) , as would transfer box , this would be cheapest option , the 380 wont bolt up to lt85 bell housing , the lt 85 tunnel wont fit , the seatbase needs modding as transfer front housing fouls. The only real answer is ship the oe box and transfer and wait till it comes back. or see if ashcroft can do exchange basis which would allow you to keep mobile .

youd have to alter the seat box as the lt77 and r380 have a higher cut out and also so swap tunnel. the lt77 and its t/box would fit then

Thanks, that's good news and will keep the 110 mobile. Then it's a rebuild from Ashcroft. Thanks once again, everyone, for your tips & advice,
