Hi

I'm from South Africa and in about a moth's time we will be going "lead free" with our petrol.

I have a 1988 110 3.5 V8 petrol

Can I safely use unleaded ?

Hi, i have a 1989 110 V8 3.5L Petrol, when i put unleaded in, i also use an additive which are available in most petrol stations.

I have been told that there is no need to use the additive, however I'm not sure is this is true so i still use it.
Maybe somebody on here could clarify

Hope this helps,

Scott.

Can I reassure you that you can use unleaded with confidence. The aluminium head has steel valave seats that don't erode. Don't bother with an additive, you're wasting your money.

PS I've been driving V8's for 15 years with no probs.

i'm pretty sure most engine made since the 80's have the required head on them to enable them to run on unleaded..you just need to shift the tuming a bit.

90 and 110's from the factory were fitted with a low compression engine that runs on any old rubbish petrol - including regular 91 ron unleaded and 95 ron premium (uk) unleaded.

If it's a 9.35:1 engine from a uk/sa spec Range Rover the ignition will need retarding by 3-6 degrees.
