Yeah I was wondering that and it makes sense that they would, cheers again Mate. I find it really strange that they differ so much in price. The front ones are like 19 bucks and then the left and right rear differ in price.... I assume they are made differently to accommodate different loads on the one side of the vehicle?

I wouldn’t worry about left and right “sided” springs. I always noticed my 110 leaning towards the passenger side when parked up, so I fitted the same springs to both sides. Now sits level. Note that I also fitted the springs designed for a TD5 110, not 1992 110 as I have. I still have the Boge self lever fitted, but wanted to make sure I was covered, for when it fails in the future.

Yeah, I went for the same ones too, it was getting complicated trying to find the right ones so just got two of the same and hopefully that should work fine.
Do you know how long it should take to replace the clutch on a 300tdi on average. Just going to get some quotes and don't want to get ripped off. Becoming a big, dark, money pit already and I've only had it a month lol

The clutch chage is a full day of a job, the hardest part is removing and rebuilding the interior...

I can do the clutch in a day myself on the driveway so would expect a garage to take less time, but it is a long job expensive job if you are paying someone to do it. A lot of it will depend on how easily everything comes apart. Mine is nice and easy as over time I have replaced most fixing with stainless and always grease on reassembly. If it has not been apart for years and everything is rusty it will take longer and require more replacement fixings and parts on refitting.
 
Agree, I do mine on the drive in a day on my own.
If @Nerocuba has a R380 gearbox it would be easier to remove the engine...

The clutch isn't a difficult job, just time consuming if you don’t have a lift. I paid around £400 for a 4x4 place to do mine. I didn’t think that was bad.

Where is reverse on your gear box. If it is up by first gear it is an lt77 if is down by 5th is is an r380. If it is a 6 speed box it is far to new for me be bothering with :rolleyes:. They are just different models of gearbox fitted to the vehicle at various times through production.

That seems OK to be fair. I was quoted 540....i don't think I'll be using them to be honest, that seems a bit steep. Still waiting on a few other quotes but does seem, like you say, time consuming and unfortunately, time is money

Ahhh cheers Dag, mine is up by first, which causes a few issues for people behind me at traffic lights, as they hold their breath when I get it wrong some times hahaha.
Cheer for that, I'm learning loads from you guys already. Also just learnt that I can't put the boost alloys on without bloody spacers....annoying, as i just assumed they fitted any Defender., so off I went and bought some without checking. :(

You don't want alloys anyway. They are for people that like to pose around town. Proper land rovers have steels! incidently mine are the same as yours, nothing wrong with them at all.

Yours look so much better though for some reason... They look wider and deeper or is that just the different tyres it has on that make it look like that?

Ignore the profile pick that is back when I was young and foolish running a 4" lift with 35"x12.5"15" tyres fitted to deepdish 10" rims. I am now back to standard height suspension running 8" modulars and 265/75/16.

Ah I see. That looks great, where was that taken? Wherever it was it looks like fun. I'd love to a little trip like that.

That is the Erg Chbbi dunes in the south east of Morocco near the Algerian border. I have been twice now, both time organised by ourselves rather than paying for a guide.
But the point was the steel wheels are much more in keeping with a utility biased vehicle (van sides, galv cage roof rack, mushroom snorkel) than alloys. If you had all the tubular addons, a two tone metallic paint job, and angel eye led light kit you may get away with alloys, but that whole package is not for me! Look at the camel trophy land rovers :D or the utility company (western power, eon, etc) :D as your inspiration rather than Kahn o_O

I do get what you're saying and I am in two minds. I do like the original, proper Off roading, old school look of the camel trophy Landy but also quite like the look of the newer ones... Maybe not as far as the Kahn models.... Anyway, my pockets aren't that deep for all those fancy upgrades. And what's the point of a show pony on the outside but it still drives like a farm tracker lol.
 
I picked up a pair of rear springs for a 110 CSW from a chap on ebay that sells 'new take offs' £55 inc' delivery. A chap on here suggested new take offs. They arrived spotless, as a pair, with the correct colour code stripes. When I ordered them, I gave the vehicle details - age, 110 CSW 5 seater. The springs and replacement adjustable dampers have made a huge difference to the ride - reduced the banging about at the rear. Currently saving up for the front end set up. I stuck with standard height and springs - just added fancy dampers - might stick to standard dampers on the front when I change them.

Thanks Lurk, I hope it makes a big difference, as like you say, it does chuck you around a bit, even just driving on normal roads lol
