2011-12-29 11.22.00 (1).jpgHi All,
I posted a thread a few months ago- I was thinking of converting an ambulance or similar in to a wood fired pizza wagon. Cost had the better of me and in the end I plumbed for a 110 Hi CAP for 2700 (with a Daihatussusu 2.8 turbo-nice!). Rear cross member had a few holes- now filled, and a few bits of welding here and there...... red oxide then wax olyd. I then bought on old ex utility back for 400 quid (see striped down pic). I have built this up with a door on the side- so that I can serve pizzas out of the side- the oven fills half the damn landrover.
Got some original 110 wheels for 40 quid which need to go on and the whole lot I am gonna spray limestone for a classic look. Problem is someone has gone mad with an aftermarket green spray job and done all the trims etc. also. May hammerite but might look naff.

I have also got some cupol 8 acid etch which I was gonna use over the whole thing as a primer (the back has the horsebox style plastic coated plywood which apparently needs this) then just put the top coat on over that. Got that 'feeling' and have been looking around and some say it is a bad idea to put on to paint (cupol say cured is fine!) and lots of people seem to put a primer on top of it. Should I go the belt and braces with a 'normal' primer?

Anyhows I will try and keep this post updated with pics if anyone is interested!

Sounds like a pretty unique project. Im looking fwd to seeing the results. Not sure I need one though :)

Hadn't really considered that to be honest. I do know there's a LOT of people starting out in mobile wood fired pizzas at the mo! Kinda why I am building this- to look the part, carve a niche etc. The other off the shelf option was a one of those mini van (Dahiatsu maybe?) pre converted to a pizza wagon which would be basically very naff and uninteresting and lacked the facilities. They wanted 20,000 so I thought sod that!

Just to clear it up I am primarily in the Pizza game!
Wood Fired Pizza
!! Not posting here to get sales of landrovers! I am lucky enough to have access to a workshop for free however which makes all this possible! I better get out there and get a wiggle on actually- before I outstay my welcome!

If you are hip enough to use facebook you should be able to check out my antics here with the landrover. Nearly finished most of the Landy tinkering now- loving the Limestone colour- old school!
