You can get up to two inch lift by putting spacers under the springs which will cost next to bugger all if you know the right people. But the question you have to ask is Why. If the answer is to keep up with the Jones's then don't bother. If the answer is to go off roading then get a 90.

i have bewen told that coil spring lifters/spacers aren't as good as longer progressive springs, because they can alter the suspension geometry and they still have the same spring rate as normal. Longer progressive springs give the increased ride height, but allow for heavier loads and and a better ride.
Wot is your take on this?

No such thing as a cheap way to lift a 110, as Mad Hat Man points out, if you run your 110 loaded, spring lifters will ruin the handling as the progressive springs will be loaded incorretly.

Have splash out im afraid, Devon 4x4- Old Man Emu - job done.

And for anyone who thinks a 110 cant be as good as 90, log onto Devon 4x4's forum to view their new 110 challenge vehicle.

and dont furget (may not apply to Defs) that other peeps have found they go thro CV gaiters like breakfast cereal because of the extra flexing.

thanks for all your advise, ive been in touch with mailorder 4x4 they recon a 2" lift kit would hardly lift it, would i just benefit by buying some good springs and shocks. a 90 is not practical for my im a gamekeeper, and my 110 crew cab is ideal for my 6 dogs and 5 mates,a 90 gets a bit full !!!!!!.

yer i reckon your right MHM. my 90 only cost me £1900 and i want to keep it a cheap offroader. springs are £60/pair and i didnt really need them. i got those lifters off richard at mill services and it has lifted my 90. i dont carry loads so thats no problem. i wouldnt say the ride is harsher or anything. to be honest,a 1984 non-pas 90 with 265 grizzly's handles like a bag of **** anyway! so their good if you want something dirt cheap.

Jims old man emos are awesome and show that spending money is the only way to garan-tree quality. hes also running stupidly big/wide tires with the lift kit and it looks/handles awesome for it.

there will always be the 90/110 argument...

all i have to say is: jim, cross axled at easton grey north of the M4? ;) you know what i mean!

Funnily enough I spent all last night lifting the wifes 110 because all the springs on it were the originals and it had a 20 degree list on the passengers side. cost about £200 for the shocks and springs and now it's sitting straight and true. Done the A frame joint at the same time and got rid of the self leveling unit. Put in the heavy duty springs with the 40mm lift, only now will have to get the castor correction bushes because it's got a bit of a rumble when you throttle off. All in all quite pleased for the money

i have a 2.5 lift on mine and its the front prop angle which causes the rumble on overun. Get a double joint prop to stop this problem.

I'm going for the cheaper option getting some castor correction bushes, It doesn't go that far off road as it's the wifes everyday transport. I bought a double cardon prop fro my 90 from those ****ers at scorpion and I still get a rumble.

Heard that it can be abit of a fools errand trying to rid a lifted 110 of the overrun rumble. When I bought my lift kit from Devon 4x4 they pointed out that they hadnt bothered to do any mods to the bushes/prop on their 110 Crew Cab project vehicle.
