In my Series, many moons ago, I used an offcut of nylon carpet, knowing that it wouldn't rot!
Don't know if nylon is still available nowadays!

Save up. It will be worth it.

Id leave it then. May well put buyers off, bit off 'whats he trying to cover up' check ebay, you may be able to find a bit, that or maybe a rubber one.

I wouldn't bother. It will look tacky. I have had rubber ones and normal carpeting. They all retain the water and rot the foot wells.

Not if you replace the shi te lr foam with closed cell foam
I found that water made its way under the rubber matting on the floor and would remain there. Even after a couple of hot days and the Landy being left in the sun, when you lifted the rubber mats you would still have a puddle of water there. I don't have any matting now and when the floor gets wet it dries out pretty quickly. Noise wise I haven't noticed any real difference. I did install a sound proofing mold under the bonnet which has quieten things down a bit.

I took the front mats out and threw them away, then removed the padding around the footwells. It just traps water and dirt.
