Hi all,

It looks like I might well be getting a new defender 110 with utility pack through work. :)
The only prob is it will have the standard skinny tyres fitted, so I will be uprating them meself.
My question is: I will be towing alot (Ifor Williams BV105 box trailer MGW 2.7 tonne) Should I go for 235 or 265 width tyres?
The reason I ask is because I have BF AT 265 on my old 90 and it sways a little whilst towing. I am told the 110 is a better vehicle to tow with anyway, but that part the prob with the poor towing on my 90 is that the tyres are too wide.
Would this be the case with the same tyres on a 110? or should I just go for 235 width and look a little less cool?
Thanks in advance

235 or 265 will not have any effect one way or another with respect to towing with a 110 . Other factors are much more important, eg tyre pressures as mentioned, load distribution on trailer, and ratio of weight of 110 to load. When done properly towing with any vehicle doesnt get much better than with a 110.

go for the 235 because the 265 is to wide to cope with the weight, the side wall on a bfg is soft when they have a heavy load on them even with the tyres at the correct presure-i found this out cause i tow a lot

BFG only do a 235/85 r16 in MT , the load rating 1400kg per tyre is the same as for the 265/75 r 16 although the 265 needs less air pressure for the max load. :)

outa interest, whats a utility pack?

Sorry been away on holiday

Utility Pack means hardtop sides ie rear side windows deleted on a SW 110.
Classes it as commercial (Though you are charged full wack for road tax)
Great for keeping tools in the back cause you can't seem them, but gives also the flexability of folding the rear seats if you need to store longer items.

Haven't the truck yet, but do you want the wheels aswell?

No idea what make Landy use for the tyres. What are you offering?

I sent you a private message thing, cheers

Cheers Alan,
Can't seem to PM back, offer sounds good including rims, however when/if I get the truck i'll have to check the rims and tyres.
The landy comes with heavy duty suspension, so am unsure which size is standard.

ill keep you informed when i know more
