I think saying it is a resto project is a little harsh....it is a tad unkempt in places, but (from the pictures) it looks reasonable. Why is the seller banging on about mileage when its not the original engine? That would put me right orf.
Has nobody else noticed the bulkhead?
Its too shabby to be a 4k motor in my view, its a resto project.
See past advisoriesHey guys
Going to look at this tomorrow morn
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/191777988345
What are initial thoughts?
Does price seem fair?
Anything beyond usual to look out for?
Will be used for holidays towing caravan and my short daily commute.
Is it likely to have PAS?
Can't decide whether to wait for a 300tdi instead as 200tdi becoming scarce.
Any input in any form is appreciated as I can't decide whether to go for it and sacrifice my current mg ztt cdti auto
Either filler or corrosion bubbling through the paintwork.Latest mot result just shows 1 advisory:
I can see very well on bulkhead, looks like filler in the n/s corner you think?
- Advisory notice item(s)
Nearside Rear Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.2.6)
Hopefully previous issues were fixed?
Slightly more concerned now though. May save up for another 6 months and try getting a newer 300tdi
A lot don't put the t-box in as well, many don't like the higher ratio, not great for bigger tyres or towing. One would suit touring with the caravan though. Its got a disco tranny box, you wouldn't not do it if you put a disco motor in there.
Does it have drum brakes on the rear?
I would be a tad worried about that bulkhead, peel back the door seals right next to the top corners of the bulkhead, I've seen holes big enough to get your hand through in behind the seals and trim. Also have a feel around the door hinges, the bottom hinges don't look to clever from the photos.
