Look at the owners manual and see if the oil meets the required specification.Would anyone recommend 10w/40 Magnatec Semi Synth oil in my 2004 4.4? Has 150k on the clock.
Or any other makes?
Bull****. It's not even very high mileage. Personally I prefer full synth.Have been told many times to not use what the manual says because it is a older high mileage engine now!?!?
Quite cheap over here at times when they have a promoDeffo pay the extra for fully Synt
I do not agree with that, full synth 5W40 and 6K service intervals is better than cheapo mineral. Modulation is still in spec on my P38, at 117K miles, look how many have hot start problems. Wammers has had to change the chain on his and he's an advocate of cheap mineral oil with frequent changes.Synthetic usually just means longer intervals can be used. If you change it at least every 5k miles then no advantage.
Seem to remember someone on here used to make oils and said they were pretty much of a muchness apart from Shell Mobil 1 which no-one could improve upon at the time.
