Hi everyone do any of you know if the 109 4 cylinder front back plates and the 109 6 cylinder / V8 back plates are the same and its just the slave cylinders that are different? I have a set that I think has come off a 109 v8 and I want to use them to upgrade my 88 front brakes so I want to use the the 4 cylinder tls brake cylinders but I'm not sure if they will fit, thank you all

You can not use the 4 cylinder brake cylinder's The 109 uses twin leading cylinders, They have a single piston one on each shoe. The whole unit can be fitted.

There are two types of 109 brakes they are both tls and 11 Inch one though is I think 3" wide that is used on the 6 cylinder engine and V8 models the other is 2 inch wide and used on the 4 cylinder engines I wondered if the brake back plates are the same but now I think not as when you look at the back of the wheel cylinders one is round ( 6cyl and v8) and the other is oblong

The 3" ones are known as the "one ton" brakes as they were for the one ton carrying capacity 109's.

Definitely different. Different part numbers, plus, as said above, the hole for the wheel cylinders is different.
