Ok for those who are interested (if any). I just had the bill from the workshop £621.99. Im offshore and the girlfriend took the phone call. So I asked her what they did to it "erm, they fixed it?" came the reply. So the good news is she back on the road, hopefully I will find out what the problem was when the missus goes in to pay them!

Well, I don't actually know what was up with her. When I bought her the chap told me he had fitted a stop as she was jumping out of high in to low so was in permenant high. Also when putting in the overdrive nothing would happen apart from the revs going through the roof. Bloke told me he never used the overdrive. He didn't seem to know a great deal about anything mechanical (even less then me!!!!) So I think he just drove her without thinking much about maintenance or upkeep. Probably realised there was a problem and decided to pass the problem onto someone else. At least now she will be getting taken care of. Damn, I sound like i've adopted a child!!!!!
You know, it costs what is costs to get fixed, I know that garage is good and even if their prices are a bit high for labour the old boy there has been fixing landies since way before I was born. I'm offshore so don't have time to do it myself sadly otherwise I might habe had a go.

Oh Trax, the missus wont drive it yet but she will!! She only went in to pay! (still waiting to hear the results.

Apparently the bearings had disintegrated and spread themselves around the transferbox  brilliant!! NOT! Well at least she fixed! so I cant wait to go :crazy_driver:

The plot thickens......

Having sold my 101 i now have a NoSpin Detroit Locker for sale.

This was imported from Great Basin Rovers, Utah.

I have seen these go on these forums for £450, i think that is fair. I reckon that postage will be an additional £20.

If you are interested please email me on kris.wright70@gmail.com or text me on o7932 8o3 289
Maybe you can send it to me for free seeing as the transfer box on the 101 you sold me was f**ked causing me to get AA relayed home (Scotland to Devon!!) only 80 miles after I bought it from you "yeah it jumps out of high but its just a gear selector issue". Don't worry too much as it only cost me £630 to fix it!!!!!

"No shes never given me any trouble"

After a quick look at your posts

I picked up my Ambi from Wales on Saturday and drove her north on the M6/M74 to Scotland, she arrived safe and sound early on the Sunday morning .

I took her for a wee spin on the Sunday for a mate to see her, she promptly broke down (transfer box problem) .

Fellows,

Ive had many many gearbox problems recently and after several visits to the garage i hope these are over .

Any chance you might shed light on these many many gearbox problems so I am fully aware of any more problems that might arise from this vehicle?

I know it's too late now, but in the future I'd advise if anyone is buying a landy off the forum, they search the sellers previous posts.

This will often show up all the issues they've been having etc, and can save you finding them for yourself.

Sad to hear people on here lying to others to make a few quid :(

Glad all is sorted though mate!

To be fair, when the seller saw my post on the 101 forum he offered and paid for half the repair. Better than nowt and he could have told me to bugger off. But yes you are right a quick search would pay dividends. All sorted now though, just in the process of respraying.

Just to be clear on this, are the posts you quoted above from this or another forum?

As far as I'm aware the member you bought the 101 from has only one post here and that was edited as was trying to sell first post.

More bloody problems

So I'm having some major issues with my transfer box again. She has been jumping out of high into low every now and again. I normally just push her back into high. Today i chocked the high low ratio lever so she couldn't jump out. I started getting a rumbling noise like when she normally jumps out almost like a groan so i headed home after half a mile. When i got home i drained the oil from the transfer box and opened her up. I found a few bits of metal but all the gears/teeth looked good. I went in from the top to find that the ( i think) pear shaped trust washer has moved into the metal casing!! shearing off metal. I have only driven about 100 miles since having the thrust washers and needle bearings replaced.

I am really annoyed, could this be because something was installed incorrectly when the £600 job was done? Or is this something that just happens?
