hi

first post so be lenient:)

would someone kindly tell me the difference between 10 pin and 12 pin door mirrors? (am assuming its the photochromic gubbins but want to be certain)

thanks

Welcome!
I have no idea sorry :p
but someone on here almost always knows the answer :)
If you download RAVE (all the manuals ever) [link in the how to somewhere] you'll probably find it. Worth getting as it can help with a lot of DIY :)

Ordinary adjustable mirrors only use six pins. Memory/adjustable mirrors use 10 pins and i would think memory/adjustable/dimming mirrors use all 12 pins. There are only two types of plug fitted 6 pin for standard mirrors and 12 pin for everything else.

hi guys,

I've a 1996 Range Rover SE 4.0L, the side mirror's are 10 pin, am I able to order a 12 pin and plug that in without any ill effect?

thanks

in picture comparison, I noticed the 10 and 12 pin sockets are the same, just the 10 pin is missing 2 pins leaving empty holes there instead... so it should work yeah? it just means the auto dimming will not work?

can anyone confirm which version the 96 4.0 SE has?

As i said earlier if anybody was taking notice. There are only TWO plugs used. 6 pin and 12 pin. 10 pin mirrors use a 12 pin plug and socket with 2 pins unused.

Thanks Wammers, so basically a 12pin mirror will work fine with a 10pin car... with the extra 2 pins just unused!

thanks.

Depends has it got reverce dip?

Memory reverse dip mirrors are only fitted to vehicles with memory seats and a 10 pin loom plug. So before anybody with a 6 pin plug set up starts saying my mirrors don't reverse dip. They won't it's not fitted. :):)

Mmmm, I've got 6 pin mirrors on mine & have also fitted memory seats.
They do dip but the buggers wont go back to the normal driving position, I can't be arsed re-wiring them so I've just turned this function off.
