Working on a 1.8 Cylinder head...

Can the rotor arm drive spindle be removed from the camshaft??

If so is there a locating mark so that it can be refitted correctly keeping the engine timed.

Any help would be great.

I have bought a reconditioned head, but it does not have this arm to drive the distributor.

Rather than swap the camshaft over from my old cylinder head, I wanted to replace the arm.

After this thread was started, I looked at a haynes manual for a Rover 214 and this shows an arm which is pushed into the camshaft.

I have ordered one from my local LR dealer and hope that its possible.
 
I'd suggest you've bought the wrong head. There are slight variations in the Rover and Freelander heads.
 
Well my part arrived to day and im told that it is gently tapped into the camshaft end. Seems to be a snug fit, but have decided not to knock it in fully before I get it in the same position as the other head. (to ensure timing is the same.)

I hope my sources are correct :confused:
 
Drifted the rotor arm drive spindle into the camshaft and fitted perfectly. Now just got to drop my newly reconditioned lump into the vehicle itself.:D
