There is an increasing road/drone noise from the front near side. Any advice on what to check first would be appreciated

Props, uj, hubs, brakes, tires/tread.Get it raised and have a poke around

Wheel bearings.......

Check tyres for uneven wear/flat spots on the tread. Also check for saw tooth like effect on side of tread pattern. Exchange tyre with spare and if noise goes away you know it is the tyre. I had same problem and new tyres sorted it out.

Don't forget the obvious, tyre pressures.
