hmm, was hopeing someone had done it to a defender :(

do u reckon it would be difficult to make a decent set for a D90.

I made my own Jack, sorry i would'nt even know where to start putting photos on here but after i made the main section i welded a fabricated angle bracket at the front which fits onto the bulkhead outrigger bolt.
For the back mount i used a bit of 24mm studding to go thru the tubular outrigger at the back,a nut at either end with a large turned washer to stop it sliding in and out.I welded an oblong plate 10mm thick on the end of this, with 2 11mm holes in it which bolts to a similar plate welded onto the main section with 2 tapped 10mm holes in it.
The main section was 80x40 industrial shelving which i 'found' at work.I also put slider bars on it made from scaffolding pipe at a 45 degree angle.
The design was based on some sliders by Mill Services i saw on Steves site at index so have a look at them, they look the dogs bits.Mine are painted black cos it was gonna cost £100 to galvanise them.
As i say,if somone could give me a step by step guide i'll put up some pictures cos i'm a complete muppet with computers as Ralph and a few others on here will testify
Cheers,Mick.

that mite help anorl;).

this is really where i wish i had regular access to welders etc.
how much is it to buy a basic welder with the necessary accesories?

i bought a basic gasless mig welder 90amp for £40 from local secondhand shop. hardly been used either

if yu look around - they come up occasionally - to buy new - you are looking at about £200, with the bits n bobs. I suggest yu dont go gasless tho.

Arc welders are better for that kind of thing arnt they? I think there cheaper too, well, you dont have to feed them gas at least.

i got one an learned the hard way:eek:

gasless is great for welding heavey steel (4mm plus) but ****e for body work, blows holes even on the lowest setting:mad: so i now have to buy a gas conversion for mine:eek: bastid!

and for the flux core wireyou need a second mortgage
