Flares and wide lapels? Love it!!Oh gosh and gawd-blimey.
In prep for the incoming cuckoo family I have been forced to go through the wardrobes in the "other bedrooms" of my house to clear them.I have found 3 or 4 really nice 2-piece nice suits. Now I may never ever NEED a suit again (except in my final box) but I am not donating them to charity (mean aint I?). Similar story with casual jackets and trousers that were not at all "cheap" but have somehow migrated to "out of sight" and so are still as new because they never got worn. I need to be a bit more selective instead of just chucking on jeans & a ragged T-Shirt. I also need to take us both out more often and wear some of this clobber.![]()
How did you know? LOLFlares and wide lapels? Love it!!![]()
Have to say I am a bit jealous in that any clothes I wore before retirement and a little while after I could no longer get into, except for shirts and sweaters. Jackets would not button up and trews wouldn't get anywhere near fastening. The diff between 32" and 36". Yet I eat far less than I did then. (Ok I drink more but as an experiment I did dry january, once, and didn't lose an inch or an ounce.)Oh gosh and gawd-blimey.

I know exactly what you mean. The jackets fit really well, but the trews are a bit "higher-octave-tight".Have to say I am a bit jealous in that any clothes I wore before retirement and a little while after I could no longer get into, except for shirts and sweaters. Yes it is so easy with tap water, not sure those with it, most people, realise the mindset you develop when its in short supply. You do get complacent when you have water on tap, we spent 5k on drilling 10yrs ago but no luck ,the veggies just get enough to keep them going till the next rain August is supposed to be a wet month for us but not so far Thursday is forcast thunderstorms with 65mm hopefully, water delivery has increased here to cost is €145,00 and 2 beers for the firemen for a full load 12 m/3 so not to bad , do you pump it from a bore hole up to a tank ?,
And then it's the worries of Forrest fire's had one last year 20klm away and that's to close for comfort depending on the wind
Living in the Montagne Noire, so called because the mountain sides are covered in Oak trees, or pines, more recently. We do worry a bit about fires. In all the time we have holidayed here and since then lived here 6 months of the year, there have been fires. So far we have been lucky, but you do wonder how long your luck will hold out. I feel for those poor sods in the Aude. Next dept to us and we are right in the corner next to them.Yes it is so easy with tap water, not sure those with it, most people, realise the mindset you develop when its in short supply.
Your deliveries don't sound too bad, we get less water than you for more - 10m3 for €160 and that's last years price so it could be more now. It went up last year mainly because he has to go further to get it, since the local place dried up.
We have a borehole which is 120m deep and it gets pumped up to several tanks or direct into the irrigation system. Today it ran for 18m & 24 seconds so its declined a bit more but still much better than most summers. Still, most water around the house gets used twice, we can't afford to waste it.
We had a fire here about 3km away but it wasn't much of a worry because it is only grass fires here generally and they spread slowly compared with forest fires. We see water dumping helicopters now and again every summer so its not an unusual spectacle, though what was unusual this time was a plane dumping red fire retardant, not seen that here before. Sometimes I think I can smell smoke too but not sure if its wafting from somewhere or just imagination...
If you have clothes you haven't really worn you must have been a bit of a dandy in the past. I have to admit to having worn all of mine regularly, though my red weskit with the shiny back got a few looks askance when I wore it around school! The kids loved my ties. did you wear a lot of ties? I flipping had to so I made it a real issue!I know exactly what you mean. The jackets fit really well, but the trews are a bit "higher-octave-tight".
But I live in hope of the resurrection of my former self.
One of the jackets is a lovely dark (almost towards brown) green and it is so unworn the side pockets are still sewn up and the spare buttons are in the bag in the inside pocket.
