Hello All,
Anyone had that noise on his/her TD4 already - TD4 ? First it was when the air con was on.
After a while of driving it turned also up w/o air con. It seems to come from the air con belt
or somewhere there. As I was a bit away when it happened I'd asked LR garage and they said
drive slowly and keep the AA number at hand. It worked out with the slow driving. When driving
from 10 mph onwards the noise disappears. Was quickly in the garage today and the main
belt seems to be ok from the tension.
Can hopefully check the air con belt tonight. Could it be the / a chain?

and a new gates belt.

Shine a torch down onto the the pulley when running, see if you can see any bright metal particles, or remove the auxiliary belt run the car for a minute see if the clattering goes away.

Yours.

Yep, sounds the same @Arctic2, ordered one, thanks. Maybe the speed to the ferry wasn't to good on the motorway last time.
Could it be, that one of the other tensioners could have caused deterioration and would need change as well?

You would only know one of the other tensioner etc was the fault by checking them once the belt was off, 7yrs for crank pulley does not sound great but it depends on how the car as been driven and the conditions, good luck and do et us know the outcome.
