Hi,

The automatic wippers doesn't work on my Freelander 2 SE (year 2009).
When I connect the car to an OBD Reader, I can see a code "U0231 - communication lost".

I have replace the rain sensor, but it haven't solve the problem. I have contact my local dealer and they say that this will cost alot, as they need to search few hours.

Can you help me to solve this problem ? Do you have a diagram of all that I need to check, where the BCM module is, where the cables pass ...

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for tagging me, I might find out why my automatic wipers don't work.

What I'd like to know is, can they be configured by diagnostics to operate as good old intermitted rather than automatic - cos automatic is pants.

To be fair that sounds like a relay issue ... have you tried having a swap around see what changes ?

I can't see it being a relay issue, I'm sure its a sensor thing.

On light drizzle it will occasionally do a flick, but basically always I have to take it out of auto and turn them on for 1 wipe if I need the screen cleared.

A couple of times it has sensed its started ****ing down on the auto setting and turned them on, like speed 1 not a flick.

Just wish it could be changed to conventional intermittent not auto.

Doubt very much if it’s the BCM…
Do the other wiper functions work?

Yes, all the other functions of the wipers work normally.

Do you know where I can find a diagram or something that helps to identify all the parts that can be concerned (cables location, bcm, ...)?

Wiring diagrams are in here courtesy of @Hippo

Has it had a replacement screen fitted since it packed up?
There is a module in the steering column for the wheel switches, but if other stalks/buttons are working, doubt it’s that.
