Hi Folks,
as my title suggests.. but, I'm struggling to work out how to thread the actual pipes to the Autobox itself..?? very little movement of the steel pipe making it difficult to thread them through alongside (underneath) the actual engine??
Anyone else had to do this.. I know, I know... i should have a lift! (if only eh?)
Thanks,
Titch

Or failing this, what's anyone's thoughts on bypassing the oil cooler altogether.. even if it's only for a short period??
I know it's an auto, but I wouldn't be doing high/fast motorway mileage nor indeed towing heavy trailers??
Thoughts??
Thanks,
Titch

Can you not just replace the rubber parts by cutting the pipes and use some compression fittings? Or has the cooler itself failed?

The torque convertor generates a lot of heat in slip mode, personally there is no way I would run without the cooler.

Thanks chaps! That's the way I'm going I think.. I was concerned how much 'pressure' was in the pipelines, but considered that it can't be excessive as there's rubber used anyway.. then I can still use the cooler of course and as Datatek says heat is generated of course..
But the awkwardness of getting new pipes through, let alone the undoing risk on the cooler.. makes me shudder!!

Usually the pipes are welded to the cooler with corrosion and you end up replacing the cooler as well. You might be able to cut the nut off if you're lucky.

We were lucky! But very carefully to be safe.....
I am glad we shall be using the oil cooler though obviously.
How this 'upset' was created was from the water pump shaft actually 'snapping' off..
You can imagine the destruction caused, hence replacing the cooler pipework etc.. but then I wouldn't have wanted to be 'hit' by the viscous fan at that speed either.. Before I put the new radiator on though, there's also damage, as in crushed, to one of the power steering pipes.. new one coming on Monday hopefully.. then hopefully will attempt tp try all again...
