Grrrrrr

Maybe one for @pwood999 ?

I used my horn the other day and wasn't very impressed. Then I heard @MrGorsky 's horn and it didn't sound like mine. A little investigation revealed my right hand horn was a) loose and b) not working.

If you take the grill and slam panel off and then remove the intercooler you can just about get access to both right and left-hand horns. The right-hand one on the driver's side is particularly awkward. With just a little more thought they could have made it impossible.

I've bought a pair of slimline Hella ones as replacement. However, the originals have a moulded 2-pin connector and the Hella ones have spade connectors. Now to the big question. I can reach the connector but only just. I certainly don't want to be soldering down there so I bottled it and reassembled everything. Ideally I would make some wires up to connect at the horn end with a male connector that fits into the existing female 2-pin plug. The question is: where do I find such a connector?! The male one on the original horn is moulded into the unit and cannot be removed. The pins are pretty small. I'm going to assume the polarity doesn't matter? Ideas anyone?

Polarity might matter, some are earthed through the Horn body ...

Is it one of these....?

Maybe a superseal?

You'll find it if you look hard enough. Should be pretty easy to make up a little patch lead. Might be easier to buy the correct horn though!!

The original horn connector could also be similar to injector connectors ? I'm a long way from my P38's at the moment (Gran Canaria), but will look when I get home.

C196 it is.

More likely to be a Superseal. At that price it might be worth a shot.

Got a spare horn on the scrapper but not sure if it works.

Actually, looks more like the standard waterproof one.

Just check if either spade connector on the new horn is grounded to the metal. If not either way round should work ? Try it on battery first.

For drivers side horn I found it's easier to reach up from under the car through the battery tray to access it. As a "temporary" fix for my last MoT/testing I got a plug kit and crimped on the female prongs and then pushed them onto the male prongs inside the horn body, this allowed me to find my left side horn was dead and right side worked but the loom was broken.

I then filled the horn plug with sealant to keep out moisture until I get round to fixing it properly.

Yes, it looks possible to get a hand in from underneath but not much room. The RAVE method is to remove the battery and then its tray!
