I am struggling to figure out how to remove the door lock particular how to get his piece out.

Try this…
Change the orientation of that arm,should be able to move the door handle out and slide that out.
They are fitted for the door handle new so no need to remove
 
Detail in pic not good enough to say but a star washer is made of spring steel and is a use once fitting.
 
See the little pin in the key barrel?
You have to push it in through a hole in the housing. Think the key needs to be in the key hole and maybe turned to a certain position.
Key does need to be in the barrel, it does need to be turned to the correct orientation to line the pin up with the hole, and then even after doing all that the chances are it will still not come out if it is anything other than brand new and you will resort to drilling it out a anyway!

We're the early ones different? I changed the ones on the Ninety but can't remember what I did.
