I’m finishing off the rear axle in the restoration and I was considering painting the outside if the hubs.
It’s got rear drum brakes, so is it a total waste of time to paint them dya think?
I was going to use the chassis paint but maybe VHT would be better.
Thoughts?

So long as you dont paint any clamping surfaces you will be fine, ie wheel to hub faces, disc/drum to hub faces.
If its a toy paint will keep it looking nicer for longer, if its your daily dont bother.
 
I think it was worth the effort. Let’s see if it lasts.

Was not the hubs you meant, but the drum and backplate. Well worth giving the backplate some protection, the drum not so much.
 
Looks smart, but won't last long me thinks. Unless you did some top rust treatment and you don't drive it anywhere.
