By that do you mean they don't have to be machined when they are fitted?the line boring part of the manual goes back to the early series landys ,the bearings have been produced sized for decades

Here's a photo of a big end and main Bearing shell, they are all in the same sort of condition.

I'm not ready to give up on it just yet, I've done almost everything else on it so it's just this left. For now.
I think I need to have a think about what the next best option is now.
thats normalGot a bit more time to work on it this evening.
Got the head off, the tappet slides have quite a lot of scoring down the side of the brass bits,also the oil feed in the head gasket for the rockers seems incredibly small. Can't see how this would be an issue,but seems odd.
