In reality you should only pay for what you get, but there are a couple of things to take into account:
  • How much do you want one?
  • How much are you prepared to pay?
  • How much is the "market" paying?
  • How much are you willing to do yourself?
Good examples of the Disco 2 are getting harder to find, but they are out there.
 
Supply and demand is a huge problem over here. If you see one or two decent ones a year up for sale you're lucky, so when one does appear, the seller can demand quite high prices.
 
Check out the prices for Landrover here in Portugal on olx.pt it's our eBay they are eye wateringly expensive!!
 
I've noticed that the defenders advertised for silly money are never sold! What something's worth, what someone is prepared to pay and what someone is asking for them, are totally different things.
 
It's interesting that the manuf. made big advances in corrosion protection for the bodies of the D2 but left the chassis completely unprotected so it could rot in typical LR fashion.
