Was outside lowered suspension down to lower level to allow mum inlaw to get out and raised suspension back up there was a loud psst from front right wheel now suspension is right down at front and right up at rear is this a blown air bag or pipe and can u just replace the air bag or do u have to replace whole strut as have found replacement bags on ebay or is there an exhaust valve that has to be reset range rover 2003 vogue td6 3L

If it's the strut, change in pairs of one's gone the other is not far behind, we had I guy change one the other day and within days the other side went

If you want to physically check the air spring with soapy water raise it to off-road height if it will go but most likely the spring is shot and as said change the pair.
You could also plug into diagnostics but the noise yours made is the same as mine and my other spring went within days of the first .
You can change just the spring but if it was me I would change the complete struts both sides for Delphi ones not Dunlop as my Dunlop ones have had a knocking noise since fitting and Dunlop are currently ignoring me although it's a known fault.
Island 4x4 are normally a good price

And now rear drivers side brake calliper is binding causing heat to build up on only hot to touch but needs sorting
Awaiting mechanic after new year to sort out front strut anyone local to Torquay who wood know as most mechanics don't want to know

Once I realised you weren't using foul language (aerosus!!) I looked in there and bag was £120, complete strut was £170

Not heard of aerosus so not sure what they are like.
There is a youtube video by RSW showing what is involved with replacing just the spring and also the complete strut.
i would have thought about 1 1/2 hours a side by the book, think somebody was charged £80 recently to change one strut, but depends on what hourly rate of course.
i was quoted £900 by a main dealer to supply and fit one front strut.....

That's a good price, much cheaper than Delphi and I wouldn't bother with Dunlop, it's not too bad a job if you have some spanners

Very good price then, but they do not specify the brand so they won't be top drawer.
It can't have the expected longevity at that price but may be worth a punt as the recommended Delphi brand are nearer twice the cost.

I believe the top bearing will be low grade at that money and the shock will be the lowest grade possible.

Best practice as with any car is do both. Added bonus of extra 10% discount.

Stupid question
How is it best to Jack up drivers side of rr to take wheel off to do strut ideally jack both sides to do both
Disconnect battery take fuse out leave door open or tailgate
I have in past just pressed button on knob with arrow up and arrow down believe this locks suspension if wrong then put me right as I am a bit confused cheers

When i did mine we did one side at a time, i jack it up under the side jacking point and put an axle stand under the front crossmember just beside the wheel and also leave the jack in place for stability but take most of the wait on the stand.
i have in the past put axle stands under the other jacking points or under the subframe at the front and jacking points at the rear just in case it tries to level itself. but i dont actually jack it up onto them just leave them there in case it gets any funny ideas.
in theory if you leave a door open it shouldn't adjust itself and yes the inhibitor switch should stop it moving and i have seen kwik fit leave the tailgate open and put the hazards on but i don't think that does anything other than flatten the battery.
there is probably a procedure in the handbook for changing a wheel.
Don't forget to chock the wheels front and back and park and handbrake (granny sucking eggs there)

Had calliper done today plus pads plus wear sensor £128 lot mechanic charged me £90 to do one side fitted new calliper and cleaned inside of hub cos was corroded took 3 hrs to do that
wants 2 hrs £60 to do other side
Any thoughts

sounds fair, they can rust like a bugger and i would rather pay the man the money he has asked for to do a proper job, it takes me an hour to get my toolbox out !

Not sure on why rusty hub is an issue when changing a caliper.... 10 minutes to change a caliper in my world, not 3 hours

Not sure what ball-joint and bottom arms have to do with changing calipers either.
