Hey guys
Here’s my trusty Land Rover Discovery 300tdi for sale, I’ve owned her for just over 2 years and in that time she’s been fantastic! Contrary to popular belief, she’s also been very reliable despite age & despite being a Land Rover!
I’ve never been off-road in her, and a good friend of mine who is a mechanic at a well known garage (who used to fix Land Rover’s in the MOD!) has told me he believes this vehicle has never been off-road, or has done very little off-road driving at least. Very clean underneath & all round in general.
She’s automatic, extremely smooth, all works as it should. Alarm & electric windows all round, twin sunroofs which have never leaked. I’m leaving in my Alpine bluetooth radio which has hands-free calling with a mic wired into the car. Comes on x4 matching road tyres, loads of tread left
MOT
- 12 months MOT (booked at garage 30th March)
- I will update advert with any advisories. I have no reason for it to fail
Servicing
- Interim service done by myself about 3-4 months ago (oil & filter, air filter).
- Full service was done mid 2015 (oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, both diff oil change, transfer box & gearbox oil)
Parts
- Rear discs & pads mid 2015
- Rear shocks mid 2015
- x4 new tyres, matching mid 2015
- Both rear radius & all new bolts arms mid 2015 (genuine Land Rover)
- Front brake pads late 2015
- Steering damper late 2015
- Cyclone breather & hoses late 2015
Modifications
- EGR valve delete installed mid 2015
- Window tint professionally fitted mid 2015
- Discovery TD5 headlight upgrade late 2015
- Decat exhaust downpipe late 2015
- Rear facing work lamp fitted
- Aftermarket steering wheel fitted, tasteful style, looks almost standard
Service history
- Not complete, but a load of receipts
Good points!
- All electric’s work fine, no leaky sunroof, drives fantastic, no knocks or bangs, no play in steering, she’s perfect!
- Discovery TD5 headlight upgrade! So you can see where you’re going at night! They have the “black tint” around the outside too, which looks great. Also has Osram night breaker bulbs fitted
- EGR valve delete & decat has improved performance & mpg a lot! Its not illegal & has no effect on MOT. I’ve got 36mpg before, and even 30mpg while towing long distance!
- 100% honest, NEVER let me down. Apart from once.. I was on holiday (typical) down Cornwall, suddenly heard a horrible noise from the back. A rear radius arm snapped. I think it was due to carrying 7 people, 3 dogs & luggage! Got recovered to nearby garage, they replaced both radius arms, all bushes related to it, all nuts & bolts, and a few other things. All with genuine Land Rover parts, cost £562. This was in April 2015, receipt to prove
Bad points? There are some, but not many, I’m being as honest as I can.
- Remote central locking works apart from on drivers door & rear door, these require remote unlocking, then the key to be turned to open. I believe this is caused by a broken spring inside the mech? Springs are £4 for a whole set on eBay
- Cruise control does not work, it never has despite me playing around with it. The cruise control functions are on the standard steering which has been swapped out anyway. Standard steering wheel included (I didn’t like it as its huge!)
- I can’t get it into diff-lock mode. I’ve never been off-road so this has never bothered me. My mechanic friend told me this is fairly common on a car which hasn’t used it in a long time, brute force may work but I didn’t bother
- There are some scuff’s & marks down the drivers side of the car, this happened just last week
Its not too serious though, please see photos
Sorry, lots to read, I get carried away! But I like to include as much detail as possible into the advert so you are not surprised to find something when you get here!
I’m located in Fareham, near Portsmouth. Available to view most days & most evenings. The car has road tax, insurance & MOT, so you can test-drive with proof of your own insurance.
I'm saying £1550 or near offers please
Thanks guys!
