I know I have asked about wipers before, but it was ages ago, so I'll start a new one. It's got me baffled!

A quick overview is that when in intermittent the wipers stop 1/3 of the way up the screen, when on full they do a whole wipe and hit the edge of the windscreen near the door frame.
So far I have:
- Replaced the park switch to get it to park
- Replaced the wiper switch to make them work right
- Replaced the relay to make intermittent work
- Replaced the motor so they turn off
- New wiper arms so I could take them off and align them properly (which worked for a day)

What else is there?!
My only thoughts are that it could be something to do with the wipe mechanism seizing or something? Or I think you can also adjust something on the motor can't you?

Have you checked your wheelboxes? When I replaced mine, I was amazed that the wiper motor could actually turn them as one of them was very difficult to by hand. It's also worth changing the cable at the same time as it will wear where it's in contact with a wheelbox, especially if there is a lot of resistance to turn.

Ok, ta. So more things to take apart!
I guess to get to the wheel box I need to take the top off the dash? Is that just a case of removing the 6ish screws and lifting off?

Another thing to check is the spline bit on the end of the wiper. Cheap and easy to replace - that can affect the position the wiper ends up in and travel but it would not account for blowing fuses, relays and motors.

sounds like a wheel box problem, assuming the park mech is operating correctly - it's obviously not parking properly. You can withdraw the whole drive cable with the motor removed. worth checking that it runs reasonably freely - pull the wipers away from the screen and try to move them using a pair of pliers to pull/push the drive cable/spring. If it's really stiff, pull it right out, grease well and put it back. Also lube the wiper spindles.

When it stops being so rainy I'll take it apart and check all of that kind of stuff. It does kind of point to something being seized and I better do it before it breaks the new motor.

I think most of the stuff being broken was because it was a farm vehicle that only got stuff fixed when it stopped it being able to be used day to day. It makes me sad watching their new one go the same way.

Thanks, I'll schedule a day looking at this next week, got plenty of things to check

You'll have to taker the dash apart rather than just take the top off to access the wheel boxes. mine was a bit different from the Buster pictures because I have a different model, but it's similar enough to make sense of. There's quite a bit of fiddling about but just take it methodically and try and remember where all the screws go because there are quite a lot of different shapes and sizes. Getting the wheel boxes and spindles out from behind the dash frame can be awkward as there isn't quite enough room for them, but levering the internal dash frame gently away from the bulkhead with a long screwdriver did it for me, and there was just enough clearance. Sometimes the gear wheels slip a bit on the spindles - they're only peened on and glued with a bit of electroplating. If they're getting loose a bit of judicious hammering and centre punching can help give them a grip again. Or you can get new ones, of course.

In intermittent it stops part way down the screen, on normal speed it hits the edge! I'm thinking that when on full the gears have more momentum so keep going.
