After 6 years I have become used to the inbuilt humour of my L322 sat nav. However about 4 weeks ago I punched in a destination in the Peak District and the sat nav is still calculating the route ?? I know I need a new dvd but I don't want to lay money out if the unit is faulty.

I have tried various things but I can't seem to get back to the home screen Is it possible to reset the unit ?

Have you disconnected the battery at any point? and if so, did you wait the requisite 3 minutes for the Nav unit to sleep first??

Also, check for moisture in the unit, the L322 can leak like a sieve in that corner ruining all the lovely expensive kit in that area!!

Wait for the red lamp to go out on the Sat Nav, then pull the plugs and check for corrosion.

If all is well, it may pay to try a different map disc, the can be had cheaply enough, I'll post a link to a cheap and decent place others on here have used.

If your L322 is 2002-2005, have you thought about upgrading to the mk4 DVD based unit??

thx for your reply. No I haven't disconnected the battery recently. The RR is 2007 but i have had DVD read errors on and off for a couple of years. However I have never seen it behave like this. I will check for moisture again and see if I can get another DVD.

If you get a new disk, or if the old one starts working, take a copy to use in the car and put the master in a safe dark place.

In fact I would try taking a copy of your disk anyway - the computer may have better error correction than the satnav, so the copy could be better than the master

I thought these DVD's were copy protected?
