Whenever the car is parked in the sun - often no option - I spend much time in Spain - the alarm activates - every time. Is this common ? Any ideas to cure ? Can it be disconnected ?

what does the message centre say when you turn the alarm off?? it should say what set it off...

Thanks for your response Wills. Message centre just shows usual time and date. Do I need to search for message re alarm ?

Is your volumetric sensor faulty inside the car? Or is the heat playing havoc with it?

Just the time and date?? Have you got a P38 or L322 (new generation) Range Rover??

Could be the effect of heat on the volumetric sensor but I have had the car into my local main dealer on three occasions to investigate this fault and they didn't come up with this. On the other hand they didn't manage ti correct the problem either so what do they know ? Someone else suggested leaving a window open slightly but this isn't a very satisfactory solution.
The car is a diesel 1st reg Sept 2003.

First of all, leaving the window slightly is a mad solution to your problem, but surely the alarm security system wont let you set the alarm with it even a slight crack and will complain and bong until its corrected?

Secondly, the volumetric sensor doesn’t necessarily need to be faulty as such for it to cause issues. The P38's RF receiver is a good example of that in the sense that it was defective from the start but never gets reported as being faulty or problematic under testbook.

So far the volumetric sensor answer seems to be the more plausible answer as the heat expands within the vehicle it triggers the alarm. I suppose this may expain why someone suggested leaving the window open a bit.
