The R380 gearbox in my 2.5 DSE is leaking oil from the oil cooler pipes that come out of the oil cooler housing and I believe I can't undo the pipe's nuts without removing the housing first.
Looking at the gbox it seems that the housing sits higher than the filling plug, so I'm thinking I can get away with removing it without having to drain the gearbox.

Does anyone know if this is possible ?

I already changed the oil when I detected that it was low, so no need to do it right now. Or can I infer, from your reply, that I'll be forced to do it when removing the cooler housing ?

you can remove it some oil in pipes cooler may leak out,housing and pipes are both sealed with o rings

Top tip James, thanks! I can now confirm that there was only a minimal amount of oil coming out and that was from the pipes, not from the gbox.

I've since removed the oil cooler pipes and replaced the o-rings. In the bottom most pipe the o-ring has heavily compressed and deformed. The top pipe, the one that I thought was leaking, had no o-ring!! It had some sort of plastic cap, I can't even understand what that was supposed to be. A butcher's job certainly

Replaced the o-rings but, unfortunately, it is still leaking. So either the pipe itself is damaged or the leak is coming from somewhere else, eventually from the cooler housing itself (I'm thinking the o-rings that sit between the housing and the gbox)
