Hi

I have a 1988 3.5 EFI and need a new alternator, can anyone recommend a good make and supplier.

The current one is a 127/65 Magnet Marell which has given up after 6 years, the previous one (a lucas) only lasted 14 months.

Whats wrong with it? If it's brushes, regulator or Diode pack it's dead easy to overhaul it.

Complete kits for all the above and including bearings available on ebay for about £20 - £22.

Straightforward job - done it myself.

Parts are easy and relatively cheap, as already said re-build it - costs peanuts and doesn't take long or in the alternative find a local independent auto electrician and ask them to overhaul it - either way is cheaper than a new alternator.
