some times a very bad earth cause elec probs, Try the light switch see what happens & Indcators see if any thing else weird happens,

Have you changed any bulbs recently?? and are you sure its the headlights and not the front side lights that are coming on??

Ok, ive come across this before when someone has fitted incorrect bulb or correct bulb incorrectly in stop/tail light, it back feeds through side light curcuit.

Best way to determine if it is bad earth or short? Sorry don't know much about electrics.

I could explain but would take to long, take both your brake light bulbs out and see if it still does it, and check that it has the correct bulbs in both sides.

i put the wrong bulb in when the brake light blew,and the front side light came on quickly changed no probs after.

I had the same. Its the rear light bulbs. Change them for new ones. Could be either side.

Yep that can cause it anorl fillement brakes and touches other one in bulb feeding side light curcuit

Or it could be a device that is saying "look at me. Im in a landrover and im driving around in comfort and at speeds of over 30 mph i can hear what my passengers are saying to me"
