I've just fitted my serpentine belt on the 300 tdi and am hoping that I have got it right as I didn't take it off.
I was wondering if the P/S pump would still work if I had it rotating the opposite way.

pulleys with smooth surface are driven by back of belt and if its wrong it dont fit

yea but will it work if I get it wrong or fit the wrong pump.

Why don't you make life simple for yourself and fit the correct pump, the right way round?

If it's not right it won't work.

And no if you fit a pump that runs backwards it will not pump!

It is the right pump but I don't know which way round it goes.

It would be very difficult to fit either the pump or the belt the wrong way...They fit the right way or they don't fit at all
