well after a spin around Scotland for a couple of weeks the old 300 was showing signs of its age.

so... I thought i'd give it the once over this week.

new oil in the diffs
new oil in the transfer box
new oil in the gearbox
new engine oil and filter
new fuel filter and cleaned out sedementor
new air filter
new spill rail pipes
adjusted the tappets
new bonnet cable
all 4 sets of wheel bearings
new brake pads all round
new front propshaft
new yolk, doughnut and bush on the back propshaft
fan belt on order....

I was gonna give it a wash... but you could go too far couldn't you...!?

If u carry on this way u'll have a new car then;)

God I bet the old girl didnt know what was going on.

Can you feel a difference in the ride/performance?

yeah, less transmission clunking , engine feels peppier for doing the tappets and clean fuel system, and gearbox feels better for some fresh MTF94

wheres the bush with regards the yoke and donut for the rear prop?
sounds unfamilier.
cheers

inside the propshaft at the donut end, takes a shaft from your diff input shaft, it's a proper bitch to get out and replace though!

just had a browse on rave, cant find a mention of a bush inside prop.
has a centralising spigot from diff pinion that i presume goes into donut, tho it doesent state that.
is it this we're talking about, or something not on rave?

not majorly important at moment, but good to know these things in advance.

the centralising spigiot goes into it. it's like a trailing arm bush: metal barrel and rubber insert.

It fits into the proshaft not the dounut.

to be honest i didnt know it were there too...

I got an OEM dounut kit and it came with it and all the bolts so i decided to change it.

ahh.
dont really know what to say now!

will find out when i take it to bits.

not just now tho!

cheers for the thread!

good luck when you try to extract it... have a swear box on hand then treat you whole family and all your friends to dinner at the Ritz!

I have just worked out how to make a neat tool to hoick that bush out.

All I need is a bush to play with, and the job's easy enough.

Big hammers and air chisel are not needed!

What did we do with the old mangled bush?
If I had that I could make the tool.

bin thinkin bout this one, without seeing where it is, guesswork only....

rawl bolt or red head of suitable diameter down centre, capped sleeve to prop, nut on outside of cap on rawl bolt shank, wind bush into sleeve.

or a lump of threaded bar welded to bush, same principle of above.

gonna change mine just for the challenge. or experience...

Excellent stuff, thanks mate.

Will be doing the gear oil, diff and tranny this weekend, weather permitting of course!
