Hi all,

received my lightbar through today and I also bought 2 pairs of 55w lamps from Halfrauds, I just want to know what I will need to wire them up?

I want to have them to come on when I flick the headlights on full (when theyre at their brightest and the blue lights on the dash) so am not not bothered about extra rocker switches etc etc

The lamps will be earthed to the gutters underneath the mounts so thats sorted, dont like the idea of lots of cables running here there and everywhere....

Skimming through the search results, it seems that I will need 2 relays so i'll most likely purchase fused relays to keep things neat, is there a particular size or configuration I need, and what ampage? I think a pair of 20amp relays should suffice but can someone confirm?

And also, what size fuses in the relays and is 20amp cable ok? I'm new to this stuff but would rather do it right first time than bodge it up and set fire to the thing lol

Cheers all :)

What size cable should I use?
What size fuses

power to relay comes from Battery via a fuse.
Trigger wire comes from Main beam via the switch.

think its the red wire out of the 3
theres red black and white aint there???

get a multimeter, try the h4 plug whilst on low beam and whilst on high, that will get your signal wire

Isn't it easier to tap into the wire off the back of the dip switch (stalk) on the steering column?

Depends where he's gonna get te feed from I spose then, i'dve done it from
battery but spose I've got a snorkel so wires cam hide there

Obviously the main feed to the relay needs to come off the battery but the "trigger" or switch would be best off the back of the switch IMHO.

What i'll probably do it earth each pair of lamps (sided) to the gutter mounting points. Then join up both the lives from each pair to run down the A-pillars and into the bay, relays mounted somewhere high near battery, earthed and triggers from each headlight. Keeps things simple and easier to fault find if something goes tits up.

Would the relays be ok if I wrapped them in a latex glove once mountedor would they not require waterproofing?
