2001 freelandertd4 the dash lights there back on
in last two years its had 4x new rings-- 4x new cables-- brake switch-- reverse switch --yaw sensor
got icarsoft fault reader--lr v2.0 2023 model says no faults
so advice where i go now bloody freelander had ten year this is only major problem 2 days before test had to cacel test
 
I think the iCarSoft readers have problems with the 2001 cars.

The early F1s used Wabco ABS then Teves Mk20 was used for a short period between 2000 and 2002 before shifting to Teves Mk25. Its these Mk20 cars (like yours) it has problems with I think.

I'd pop in to a indie LR garage and see if they can pick up the codes. If they can, use it as proof your device doesn't work and send it back for a refund.

If you got cheap abs sensors, chances are one or all are faulty. If you still have the old sensors, try changing one at a time to see if the lights shut off. If you have a known working front and rear sensor, you can use those two as they're not sided. Just front and rear are different
You really need to get some sort of codes before reloading the parts cannon though.

Oh, did you check the wiring to the hdc trigger switch?
 
Apart from the g sensor, they should all give codes if faulty.
Have you checked the hdc wiring on the gearstick?
If yours is manual, swap the 1st and reverse switches around to see if faults change (reverse lights not working etc)
 
The 1st gear switch is also called the hdc switch. It doesn't have any other tell tales when faulty apart from dash lights. On the td4, you can swap it with your reverse switch. If you lose reverse lights, auto rear wiper etc. Then the switch is faulty

HDC switch is the 1st gear switch? I think not - they are separate switches.

Don't think the HDC switch can throw the Amigos, at least it can't on my '99... pretty sure its a simple on/off switch. Granted they fail, the wire falls off and you can't enable it.

Think its the same with the 1st and reverse switches - don't think they can throw the Amigos.... unless they both say 'On', so pulling their wires and seeing if the error goes away would be a test.
 
Had 3 readers on all say no faults all parts were good stuff not cheap ones
If the Amigos are on, the ABS ECU is detecting something and there must be a code (presumably). Unless there's a problem with the instrument panel. On my '99, the Amigo LEDs are directly connected to wires from the ABS ECU, but on your 2000+ model it may be comms that the instrument panel (lpack?) interprets.

You say you have 4 new rings - what about sensors? What ever, that leaves the other and the new components can break at any time.

You need to know the codes to find out which component or corner is faulty. You say the stealer charges $250 an hour - but ask them how much to read the codes - if they still have kit that will talk to an F1 - many threw their F1 stuff out ages ago. Try an indie. I don't have a reader, my local indie only charge a few bucks to read the codes.

I don't mean the gearstick hdc switch. When searching for the 1st gear switch online, it will sometimes be easier to find if you search for hdc switch or sensor

Hdc IS the 3 Amigos. It uses abs to control wheel speed and also needs traction control working to tell the ecu which wheel is slipping and how fast
Hdc is only active in 1st and reverse gears. It uses these switches to activate when the button is pressed on and deactivate when in other gears but hdc hasn't been switched off.

I have a list of common reasons for the different Amigos. If you don't mind, I'll add it to your vcu common issues post when I'm finished work

all rings -- cables and sensors--brake and reverse switch replaced ---code readers say no faults---will have to trailer it to garage with better reader about 100 quid round here to get codes read--if i knew cause i would fix it
its insured and i have box of matches if its any more trouble---

Yours was registered in 2001, but what is the model year? 1a or 2a?
The last 8 digits of your vin will have one of them and 6 numbers after it

Yeh, the Amigos are not unique to Freelander, but its not common to many cars, so yeh, is suitable to that thread. :cool:

The point I was making is that the HDC switch I do not think can throw the Amigos - it is broken, it just can't be activated, or will be activated all the time if its broken 'live'. Not like the brake switch, for example, that can. Same with the other bits specific to HDC - ie gear selection, unless they both are indicating on.

The 3 Amigos does indicate that HDC is not available, but it is unlikely to be a component specific to HDC that has failed. Much more likely a common part - in fact if it was just an HDC component, then just the HDC warning would be lit, so you can actually rule them out.

Why would you need to trailer the car?

The Amigos should not stop the car being driven.
