Yes, same basic design, same serious issues like crank failure, low oil pressure and too much torque at low RPM.

I think all the same basic engine, euro6 models went to one turbo on the d4s, might be the same on the range rovers?

hi mate

must confess I always thought the later D4’s had twin turbos , ie being badged as SDV6 / sequential

but always happy to be corrected my friend

must confess I always thought the euro 6 / 2016 engines were different than the earlier ones due to the ad blue , or is it just extra accessories that have been added plse

plus just thought is it the euro 6 engines that also has the Gen 2 variable speed oil pumps plse

many thks

The block is the same as far as I can tell. Emissions stuff is all bolted on where needed to make it pass more stringent emissions standards.

Ad Blue uses an SCR Selective Catalytic Regeneration unit which is fitted in the exhaust. That is the limit of my knowledge

I will have to try and find some pictures.
But if I remember correctly when the engines went euro six they went to a single turbo charger on the discovery four.

many thks and always like to learn new things

also heard the canbus is a different speed on the asblue 2016; models , so none of the modules would work , HPFP is also different

assume all of this is due to the ulez , hopefully with a new mayor it will get scrapped

thks again

Nah they wont scrap it, the emissions will only get tighter and tighter.

very true, think it was Susan hall that said about scrapping it but indeed maybe it wil just be a different type of scheme

as a side note see the D5 using the same 3.0 engine has a single turbo

hope all is well my friend
