HI i am getting these errors and the car is in Restricted Performance mode. i want to take off and examine the MAP sensor but dont know where it is - can any one provide me with a tech diagram showing where the sensor is or offer any help to resolve this myself without having to spend thousands?

Hi yes sorry - good point. Its a 2018/2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport 240 HSE SD4 Auto. i say 2018/2019 because its registered 2018 but if i use the VIN in the Jaguar Land Rover site it says its a 2019. Thanks. For background, it has been giving me DPF issues since we got it and they kept resetting the computer errors and never fixing the problem. Then the warranty ran out and suddenly they stopped resetting the error and said it needed a new DPF for ~£3000. But i believe everything inside the engine is now encrusted with soot - including the MAP and the MAF sensors - hence the errors. MY OBD is a cheap one and doesn't seem to be able to reset the errors and in previous YouTube videos i have seen the MAP sensor being easily removed and cleaned - i just cant find it in mine. Thanks for any pointers you can give

Hi thanks i have now posted in the intro section. i cant see my own post in the forums section. i thought i had put a thanks after that. apologies didnt mean to be rude

no probs and welcome to the asylum, lol

oh wow talk about a huge ripoff in not sorting it out when u was in warrenty

do u only do short trips and does it also have adblue plse , alas when they try and regen with short journeys the programme is interrupted as u turn the engine off , leading to issues , if so heard of the adblue injectors in the exhaust blocking up , so maybe try and find a local DPF / asblue specialist or a good indpendant company who may be able to clean it out correctly for u along with cleaning the adblue injector

with a decent reader ur at least able to see the DPF differential readings, as ur have one before and after the DPF as they monitor what the readings are so if there very different the DPF will be blocked or restricted, along with a dashboard error light

hope that also helps

Think the gap iid scanner covers ur motor , will double check for u , there not cheap around £500 but very good along with excellent back up customer service

they pay for themselves very quickly seeing to have a diagnostic plugged in average around £150 plus vat

Checked and looks like it will do the reset and regen , always best to email them to double chedk to ensure it covers everything u need

After opening the link plse scroll down and fill in ur model and year

hope this also helps u

Yes short trips to school or supermarket. no off roading or stunt driving at the weekends :p . Strangely though, the Rear Differential has died too and they wont fix that either . Its a Land ROver for chisssake and i been driving Miss Daisy all its life and the Rear Diif and Front DriveShaft have gone as well as the DPF , EGR, all the heat shields and apparently all records of it having been in for repairs have gone too. Lookers are the dealership. Absolute con men.

Yeah thanks for looking into that for me - but TBH i dont want to throw more good money after bad. If i can pull the MAP sensro off and give it a clean that will get me started. in the process of getting a new car and this one can just go to the graveyard - or more likely to some other unsuspecting customer when it gets sold on at the auction. Its not fair though - this car should be burned or buried and never given to anyone again

one other thing that has been annoying us for a while now too. We had two keys with the car when we got it and we have lost one of them - INSIDE the car!! it used to allow us to get in and drive around but now the battery has died and we still havent been able to find it. It looks like there are cavities under the two front seats. I get the feeling we are going to have to strip the entire innards of the car out to find it. Worth a good few hundred quid to return it with both keys - or at least to not get penalized for only returning one. :-( cant wait to see the back of it.

Does anyone have any diagrams please or pictures of where the MAP sensor is?

Hi

See if this helps u plse

Plus not wishing to try and teach u how to suck eggs plse don’t put a screwdriver down the hole bit get some map spray cleaner , u can use a small pick to gently remove the carbon build up at the surface , just have to be very careful the pick doesn’t go down too far into the hole as it will destroy the sensor

Hope that helps

ok brilliant thanks i found that bit, took it off and it was covered in deep black sticky oil etc. gave it a good clean and put it back on and now getting MAF temperature error codes - so looks like i need to find the MAF now :-(

Knee bone's connected to the ankle bone...then it will be something else and something else until i have to throw it in the car graveyard :-(

By the way - the air filter hose goes round to the back of the engine - is that the air intake then and at the front would that be the exit manifold? (hence Manifold Absolute pressure sensor)

Ill chase some more errors - appreciate your pic it helped a lot :)

Ur so welcome and glad it helped

Indeed they block up , ref the maf it should be near the airbox think it’s directly in front of ur expansion bottle , as a guide the cap of it I think comes through the slam panel

Personally got some Maf/map cleaner from Halfords , hear u can use brake cleaner but personally never used it as always been worried if it would harm sensors

Alas always the way with errors in chasing them down ,lol

May I ask what scanner are u using plse

Hope that helps and plse let us know how u get on

Just thought , if that’s wrong where ur airbox is there should be a sensor sticking out on the pipe near it , that should be the maf

Think it has a red colour on the end of the connector

Sorry as I sometimes get the discovery sport and D5 mixed up , lol

Sorry yes your right the errors are
"P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit Range / Performance"
and
"P0113 "INtake Air Temperature Sensor 1 circuit High"

The OBD i am using is a MOTOPOWER MP69033

Seems a bit limited. Cheap though - think it was about 40 quid or thereabouts. I need the big "proper" one but that costs about the same as the car :)
