Hi All,

I have a D3 with a suspension issue - it says on the dash Suspension Fault - Normal Ride Height Only.
My question is, should/can a Hawkeye identify any specific issues with that and is the Hawkeye Total I've read about on a search here the right bit of kit to buy - will it plug straight in or is there something else I need to buy - leads or more software etc?

It drives perfectly apart from the above issue - no limp modes or anything like that, just no variation on ride height.

Thanks

hi

apologises but can’t answer how affective the hawkeye total is, the iid diagnostic reader is the one to get

it can be several things, ie faulty compressor, air leak, faulty reservoir tank, etc,etc

may i ask

1) does ur suspension height drop overnight
2) does any amber suspension light show up on the dash board
3) can u hear any air leaks
4) have u had chance for the codes to be read yet

where abouts are u plse ,

PS , assume you’ve had the belts and oil pump cover already replaced , inc the rear belt

hope that helps

Hello & thanks

Just got it, and was aware of the issue, so my first experience of it but to answer your questions..
1/ Don't think so - I saw it yesterday and got it today - It doesnt move when you start it up though if that helps. On driving its not on the bottom, feels quite normal - very comfy in fact, but looks somewhat squat perhaps??
2/ Amber suspension light is on and message centre reports Suspension Fault - Normal ride height only
3/ Can't hear any air leaks
4/ No codes read yet - looking to possibly get one if feasable

I'm near M25 junction 2, Kent

Regards

I tried listening to the compressor, )by the nearside rear tyre?) and don't think anything is happening - I can hear noises around the car of stuff going on but sounds like fuel pump perhaps and electrical components whining but as I've not heard one of these compressors going would it be obvious to me do you think?

hi

maybe the compressor isn’t getting any power to it, or knackered, there are wires in the front near side wheel arch that can chaff against the chassis and break ,

ur not far away then, lol, as i’m only in swanley

i’ve got an iid diagnostic reader and if u want i can plug the reader in and can read the codes for u if u wish , alas mine is vin locked to my landy but it will certainally read the codes on urs

don’t wish to tell u how to suck eggs but can easily then tell u what u need to look for etc

i’m just a private owner, not a garage , bought my D3 as a project a year ago and always happy to help other fellow landy owners

gary

hi

yes u would indeed know if the compressor was running , the noises are normally the fuel pump and also the turbo actuator arm motoring back and forth as part of the systems software

may i ask what year is it please , auto or manual

its a 2006 Auto. I just searched youtube and saw someone bench test one - it sounded like a conventional tyre compressor, certainly nothing going on like that on mine

thks, yes indeed u can certainally hear them running , assume then even when u press the suspension lever inside up or down it does nothing

sounds like the EAS controller has shut ur suspension down until it’s fixed and reset

did u get any warranty with it ,

No I bought it private.

Would you know if the cables you mentioned that chafe, if I rummage about is it likely it may start and stop or is it a case of once identified by the system as an error it stops even trying? I was expecting to pull off some plugs and check for power to the compressor for instance..

u can indeed disconnect the plugs that go to the compressor and put 12 volts on to see if it runs , also test to see if there is any power going to the compressor , as that will at least test if power is getting there from the front wheel arch

the wires that chaff are behind the front nearside inner wheel arch

have u checked the fuses first , it’s F26 and F3 , it’s the fuse box under the bonnet

Ah great - something to get my teeth into thank you. No, I've not checked those fuses but I can do that pretty quick. The cables on the comp I'll have to check over next few days - If I start fiddling with that now I'll get murdered for not helping out with Chrimbo haha

Hello Gary,

FL26 is fine, FL5 my board is empty but on the lid it shows a pic of an engine with electric flash through that one. So I checked any that had a pic of the car moving up and found one of the slow blow fuses, 60 amp, in position fl10, is blown..

did wonder that or indeed bad wire in the front wheel arch ,

have indeed offered if the gent gets stuck and needs one to plug my iid reader in for him to get the codes

ps - noted and very much appreciated Gary - I wouldn't want to put you to any trouble (well, before I've bottomed out the obvious at least haha)
