I've tried to start my 2.25 diesel today after a long winded rebuild. The injector pump was professionally rebuilt in Sept 2020. I'm struggling to get the pump to prime. I've bled the fuel filter. Fuel cutoff is open. The vent on the pump body bleeds fine but when I open the vent on the control cover it's dry? I do get a minimal amount of fuel to the injectors when cracked off with the engine turning over but just a dribble. Can anyone give me some pointers however obvious. This is my first rebuild project so I've probably missed or done something daft.

Are heater plugs wired in and working, keep on for 20secs, and crank for 20 secs with good battery, are tappets set, timing correct, you can remove injectors and spin round the injector pipes so you can see fuel spray when cranking that’s a good check, bleeding the main body vent is more important than the one on control cover

Realized I'd wired my new style probe type heater plugs through the bulkhead resistor. Rewired correctly but only getting 10.8v to the plugs. Will give the battery a good charge or swap it and see what happens. I can definitely smell a whiff diesel smoke so might be making some progress.

Thanks for the advice so far.
