I take its a facelift td4 , the L P pump hums on turning the ignition on , which is normal , any warning light showing ? my first thought was the maf sensor , that can cause stalling , what else has been checked ?

Tried both ways , as you know theres a knack to get the top plastic holder past the radiator hose with the filter in !

My cubbie is still dry (touch wood) I also keep a damp trap in the back that absorbs quite a bit of water over the winter months !

I also have used LR , double the price of mahle that I now use , I did try to remove the seal retainers from the used filter in the photo , but they broke , so putting it down to a one off filter fault , could of been worse if the faulty end was put in the bottom of the housing , the main...

Make sure you find one thats been running with 4 tyres the same size/ make/model , this is very important on the freelander

this was in the top section and must have looked like part of the holder in the past , when it fell out this time I thought that's not happened before , I even tried to put it back in :eek: then the penny dropped , evans halshaw did two oil changes and they were none the wiser still the kink...

changed my oil and filter last week , while wiping the inside of the plastic filter holder/cover the plastic circle shown in photo fell out :eek: now in the past I had noticed a kink in the used filters , and to be honest just thought it was a freelander/LR quirk , however the circle is a seal...

The powerful uk shelf has the lock recess , same shape as the lock in the cubby hole !

They are still available , mine came with them on the front , got the rears 2 years ago !

Thats what LR stratstone stockton told me :eek: the shelf in mine was an aftermarket part from powerful uk :eek:

Thats a lot to pay for an hours job , oem bosch pump £ 130 ish , hour or so to fit , rip off :eek:

I got mine new , c/w fittings , you have to remove the plastic strips from the roof & the plastic caps at the rear above the lights , 2 bolts each !

Have you changed the crankcase breather filter to the bmw mod ?

Glad to be of help :) I went to LR for some replacement shelf fixings only to be told nothing listed :eek: but found powerful uk , not cheap , but the only place that did the parts for a 3 door shelf :)
