What have you done to your Freelander today

Took my F2 for his MOT - passed without even a sniff of an advisory.

Freelander 1 can't find a cv joint that fits.

Look it up here (don't buy it from here - silly expensive!) https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/hierarchy/id/4.55800.56225/brand/land-rover/

    My Intro

    Such optimism and wishful thinking!

I would just like to say

I’m gutted - my old beeb got left in the loft of my first house that I sold. Disk drive. Printer. Joysticks (weird looking things) and games, including Elite and Revs! Trailblazers!

My mum and dad got me the ZX81 - then got me the BBC B. Better days…

Knocking Noise in Drive and not reverse

When you say ‘recently fitted’… do you mean there wasn’t there beforehand? If so, that’ll be the reason it was missing - most get removed due to IRD/diff issues, as @Nodge68 mentions.

But he also invented the ZX81, with its whole 16k of extended ram. Fond memories as a kid…

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 brake grommet part number?

Do you mean the little plastic cap that fits over the handbrake adjuster access hole? HP1 in this picture…

Freelander 2 (LR2) Whining noise won't go away after replacing the power steering pump and steering rack

Are you sure it’s the power steering causing the whine, after all that work? And was the power steering fluid bottle changed?

What have you done to your Freelander today

A nice easy job yesterday - after the handbrake getting stuck on the other week, I needed to adjust it as it wasn’t quite holding on hills. I think the cable possibly stretched slightly when trying to free it under power. The F1 is due its 6-monthly service, so daughter bringing it down in the...

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

IIRC, the only difference for a TD4 auto vs a manual is the inline mod is placed in a slightly different position on the hoses. The stat is the same.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) B100A -15 fault code?

FL2’s need a ‘good’ battery - they use them heavily and are known to create all sorts of issues if you don’t have a healthy one fitted. You’ll probably get 3 or 4 years max from a battery on an FL2 - and that’s if it is a good brand. I fitted a Yuasa battery to mine a few months back - good...

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

No hole in mine. Runs sweet and does what it needs to do.

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

Most leave in situ due to the awkwardness of getting to it on a TD4, hence doing the mod work-around. If you are going to the trouble to get to it to remove it, then just replace it anyway.

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

On the TD4, if it’s all working correctly you would see an obvious change once you did the mod… The old stat (that generally fails ‘open’) will only allow the engine to get to around 1/4 on the temp gauge. The mod inline stat, you should see the temp gauge get to around 1/2.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I'd have to put the seats down in mine to fit it in the back, and even then I'm not sure the tailgate would close. I guess I could tie it down

First time Defender owner...(Well joint owner with my son)!

Very nice. That is exactly the sort I'd go for - if I was to get one
