    if only my welding was that good... is this section just a straight box section with a bracket welded on to hold the fuel tank strap?? i cant see because its hinden begind the fuel tank, and once ive taken the tank off i cant go to get another piece of steel.

    no not the cradle - the square section cross member (goes left to right) welded on to main chassis sections. On mine the cradle runs front to back - with the front bolted onto this cross member.

    the chassis on my 300tdi discovery is in good nick - apart from the cross member that is just in front of the fuel tank. This is a square section that is between the large cross member, and the rear one a the back of the chassis. apparently no repair section available. trying to work out...

    My battery is on the way out - if the engine doesnt fire first turn then its time to push. I've noticed that batteries for commercial vehicles seem to be cheaper than for cars - and that there is spare space around the battery in my Tdi disco. Has anyone fitted a larger (and cheaper) battery...

    brake caliper overhaul

    I need to change the rear pads on my 96 discovery - and the pistons as they are a tadge rusty. Can i change the pistons without removing the caliper (will they clear the disk)??. if i need to remove the caliper what size & type of socket do i need to fit to the 'star' bolt that holds them in...
