All fixed now thanks, I removed the handle mechanism and made some adjustments (bent part of it) now working ok.

Tried lubrication already. If I keep the door open but manually move the catch to the closed position the outside handle still doesnt operate the lock, it feels as though the rods/mechanism is not moving far enough even though the handle is on its end stop, in fact the handle is cracked, I guess...

It's a D1 but I don't think it is the spring issue, I have the spring problem on the passenger side and have ordered a spring on Ebay for that one, the drivers door doesnt open even if you pull up the door pin.

Anyone had this fault before? The door will not open from the outside and is also difficult to open from the inside, you have to really yank the inside handle. I thought maybe the rods have stretched so perhaps if I bent them a bit it might work but don't want to risk breaking it altogether:eek:

Thanks Brian, I have managed to fix most of the faults and found the answer to another using the search, I will try a new post in the discovery section for the other one.

I thought these might be common faults, any experts about?
