Help, what did I do ?

Just discovered end of MAP sensor had broken off and was inside inlet manifold, only realised when I was fitting a replacement, hope this is not all the problem all along. :-( Will see when I fit new gaskets etc to HP Fuel Regulator.

Help, what did I do ?

After 2 hours of blood sweat and tantrums I managed to remove the HP Fuel Regulator. Which ever moron at LR thought it would be a good idea to use splined bolts need a good hiding, what a nightmare of a job getting them out. Enclosed photos of my regulator, the tiny O-Ring and Spacer look ok...

Help, what did I do ?

Tonyj66 : they are all connected in series to 1 pipe that flows back to the tank. Nodge68 : I had the car sat doing nothing for 2 weeks while I fitted new brake shoes, I was sent the wrong set and decided to leave it on axle stands and fit the new glow plugs and a couple of other mods, like a...

Help, what did I do ?

Decided on 1 more test before doing a tow start. Disconnected the diesel return to the tank at the sender end of the pipe as it enters the tank, then pulled the spill pipe off injector number 1. Blocked the pipe to prevent deisel running back to the tank and put a temporary spill pipe onto...

Help, what did I do ?

Research suggest that the ECU pulses pin 9 from time to time so making a permanent earth is unwise and of course it might not meant to be earthed on ignition, maybe someone could meter theirs for me and see ? Next step is to tow start it and see what that brings, battery on charge at moment so...

Help, what did I do ?

Not a chance, I'm sorry but thats not the right way to go with it. Firstly there is no guarantee its the loom, secondly I would not trust a kid at a dismantles to cleanly removes a loom from a scrap car and thirdly it might be just faulty as mine. I think the only course of action is to fix...

Help, what did I do ?

I think I am getting somewhere now. There is no earth on pin 9 in first block on the ECM Harness C0603, this is described as the Main Relay Earth. Tested it with ignition on and off and with all connectors unplugged and plugged in by testing at back of connector. I think the ECU creates the...

Help, what did I do ?

Inertia switch was fine, my next move it to use the wiring diagram for the ECU / EMU's bank of connectors and check all the earths and inputs. At this rate if I don't get anywhere soon, I shall have to concede defeat and call in a mobile auto electrician. I hate losing especially to...

Help, what did I do ?

I know the switch is under the ECU area and is a big red thing but I know nothing about it, will it be obvious if it has tripped ? Does it stick out or something or do I press it like a reset button ?

Help, what did I do ?

Fitted a brand new Bosch Air Flow Meter, reset codes first with scanner, rescanned and same error and obviously truck still doesn't start. Thats 2 new parts I have bought now and a repair made to a broken wire and still no fix. Am wondering if the short circuit fault is triggering false codes...

Help, what did I do ?

If you could tell me which one the ECU / EMU uses that would be great.

Help, what did I do ?

Scanner resets when you crank so can't tell. Skinny Mike :- Any idea where the earth is located, have lifted up the engine fuse box and can't see a separate connector for each yellow relay, google suggest it earth's through ECU but can't find anything in Haynes manual etc on where it is. Thanks,

Help, what did I do ?

The MAP Sensor on the inlet manifold, Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. I also strengthened the flimsy wiring going into the back of the connector to the Cam Sensor with some more "Plastic Padding Super Steel" as there is a bit of movement in them and they are the same wafer thin rubbish as...

Help, what did I do ?

I think I might have the answer, my new scanner calls P1E30 - Short Circuit to V Battery +ve but according to some sites I have visited its the MAP Sensor that has failed, bear in mind it was the only connector I undid when I swapped the glow plugs. Took a chance and bought an Intermotor MAP...

Help, what did I do ?

Successfully repaired the Boost Air Temp Sensor and the code does not come back when reset etc. Nodge68 - Took your advice and inspected the 3 wires on the Cam Sensor plug, I pulled them at the plug end and as they enter the loom; nothing. So I thought I would disconnect it and try cranking...

Help, what did I do ?

Both wire stubs still have good continuity so I should be able to repair them. I have managed to dig out the plastic around the short broken wire and solder a new wire onto it. Having done the same on the longer broken wire I have re-checked continuity and reinforced both delicate gauge wires...
