    Lucas 25D4 Distributor Mystery

When I bought my Rover P6 2000 TC it had a seized engine, while it was soaking in diesel I set about buying new ignition parts for it, such as a new cap, points etc. When it was unseized, these new parts and some fettling got it running a treat. I have since sold the P6 and recently bought a...

    Perkins 4.203 v Series 1 Gearbox query

I measured the series 1 bell housing which is 300mm, the adaptor plate is made for something 350mm. A quick call to Nick at Dunsfold revealed it is most likely a plate for an LT95 4 speed manual as fitted to RRCs, 101s, Stage 1 V8 and early 110s. Thanks for the info and suggestions guys. Karl.

    Perkins 4.203 v Series 1 Gearbox query

Does anyone know if the adaptor is an adaptor and if why its so much bigger than the gearbox bell housing, are later LR gearboxes fitted with bigger bell housings ?

    Perkins 4.203 v Series 1 Gearbox query

Here are photos of both sides of it. It has a nice crack in it but I have someone who can repair it but as it stands its far too big to bolt onto my gearbox bell housing anyway. Karl.

    Perkins 4.203 v Series 1 Gearbox query

Yes someone else said that too, the engine has an alloy sump so its not out of a tractor. Any idea what it might be out of ? Regards, Karl.

    Perkins 4.203 v Series 1 Gearbox query

I have recently purchased a Series 1 86" with its original gearbox, but the vehicle had no engine. So I decided to buy a Perkins 4.203, the one I plumped for off ebay included a LR adaptor plate. When the engine arrived I whipped off the adaptor plate and discovered the plate is much bigger...

    Water Temperature Gauge Wiring Help

Thanks but as I said, I have no wiring so telling me the colour doesn't help me :-) I just need to know which connector to connect the feed from the voltage reg and which to the sensor. Thanks, Karl.

    Series 1 Footwell Repair Panels

I ended up buying some nice Series 2/3 ones off ebay for silly money about £60 for the pair delivered next day. I was blown away, galvanized and spot welded. Although I have a Series 1 88, they suited me perfectly as I have no proper bulkhead and had made the decision to fit Series 2/3 pedals...

    Water Temperature Gauge Wiring Help

Hi, My Series 1 restoration project is going well and I have turned my attention to a couple of little jobs. I want to wire up the water temperature gauge, my gauge is probably out of a Series 2 like several other parts on it. When I got my truck it was a dismantle abandoned project and...

Td4 Thermostat Replacement - The Way To Do It!

Just fitted the £10 Gates thermostat to my 04 TD4, it took 45 minutes in total. This included removing the air intake etc, cutting the stainless steel band off the top hose and fitting the thermostat into the hose. I followed this guide...

    Series 1 Footwell Repair Panels

Thanks for all the suggestions on suppliers. YRM don't do much Series 1 stuff and both Radford Bulkheads and Classic Bulkheads can't be bothered to answer the phone. Have tried them both for days on landline and mobile. I guess they have so much work they don't need new customers :-)...

    Series 1 Footwell Repair Panels

You mean the footwell panels are wider so don't drop into the footwell on Series 1s ?

    Series 1 Footwell Repair Panels

Thanks but these are the same kind of money as Craddocks by the time you add the VAT. I only want to know if the later ones fit. The ones on ebay are only £20 and they are plentiful.

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

2 weeks on and it still starts on the button. There is no doubt in my mind that the (presumably malfunctioning) FBH was affecting the starting of the truck.

    Series 1 Footwell Repair Panels

I have a 1958 88" Series 1 that has got a homemade bulkhead that has no footwells. I bought it as an abandoned project. I have found Series 1 54-58 footwell repair panels at Craddocks but they are nearly £100 plus postage for a pair. However, eBay is littered with repair panels for later...

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

I was thinking more along the lines of it messing up the fuel pressure in some way. I guess some electrical gremlins could also cause some fun and games to but I am not really qualified to say for sure. I just try and keep a logical mind and google stuff when things don't add up. Karl.

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

I have fitted new NGK glow plugs already, which was pointless as it needs to be very cold for the ECU to use them anyway. I tested the old ones with a meter, 3 were dead and looked it too. It had the upgraded fuel rail harness before I got it. I fitted a new branded LP fuel pump and Mahle fuel...

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

The battery is only a few months old, I panicked and took the fuse out assuming it was knackered. Its the fact that it starts so well now, lets not forget the unit draws diesel from the same lines as the engine so it must have some effect. I will put the fuse back when I am satisfied that the...
