Sticking throttle - dirty throttle body or something more expensive?

Just got access to the throttle body and given it all a good clean with carb cleaner and gone over linkages with same and it feels a lot freer than it was. When I get more time I'll take the springs and things off of the spindle and give it all a proper clean. This is definitely where my problem...

Sticking throttle - dirty throttle body or something more expensive?

Hi, I've got a 2000 4.6 that does not get used much, I'm located in Swindon. Just recently sometimes when you go over idle speeds the accelerator seems to get stuck and the revs don't die when you take your foot off of the pedal - a quick blip of the throttle restores normal operation...

    New battery, new car!

Got my new battery today (Alphaline 130Ah 1000cca) and installed it using a spare battery and jumper cables to keep power to car and avoid lockouts/resets. All went well until I snagged the radiator bleed pipe which promptly snapped in two places  I was worried the battery was not going to...

One dead Window - regulator mechanism OK

Thanks Wammers. I tested for power on pins 1 and 3 of the harness but I did not check for earth continuity. I did not get power between pins 1 and 3 when pressing the rear door switch. I'll try again later and test the ground.

One dead Window - regulator mechanism OK

HNY! I got the rear RH window open the other day and then went to close it and nothing! No noises, no banging, just nothing. All of the other windows work fine. I've had the window stuck in the down position overnight. It is the right rear window on a 2000 4.6 Vogue (x reg) I've checked Fuse 2...

    New battery, new car!

Well I just went out battery shopping expecting to buy a Yuasa lorry battery from my local battery specialist shop who had told me on the phone this was the biggest they could fit in and had in stock. Got the guy to test my battery which he rated at 620CCA and then when he tested the lorry...

    New battery, new car!

Thanks modelman that's really useful. I assume the battery compartment on a 2001 petrol is the same as a 1995 DSE??? (Probably not - so I'll get my tape measure out).

    New battery, new car!

I've rung a few places and the names that keep cropping up as being "any good" are bosch and varta. I've got a local company nearby that specialises in Yuasa batteries but they can only give me a 850CCA standard battery for £95. I was indeed looking for the biggest thing I can afford that will...

    New battery, new car!

I'm also looking for a new battery and have been totally bewildered by all of the potential different options and the different suggestions from the high street stores and battery warehouses that simply won't fit due to the terminals being the wrong layout. Could you tell me the exact battery...
