Don't fit it completely to the casing just connect the pipes and plugs to it for test and let it so over night then if no leaks fix it gently to it's place

Hi. As long as you can see clearely the leak coming from the valve's body you are not missing anything unless you manage somehow to hurt that valve while you fit it

Good luck then cos your grille looks very nice but for warmer areas i'm sure it could be a risk being so restrictive... though it would be good for you(and that's valid for all D2 owners) to fit an additional ECT gauge to see the real coolant temp cos as i said the factory gauge is a bad...

But did you watch live engine temp in the summer? calculating flow area is not so relevant IMO as the air's path after the grille is different according to the modell. That mesh thing is the worst ideea cooling wise ... IMO those who sell it dont care about your engine or those who fitted it didnt watch the live coolant temp when it's warm outside to see the difference. It's good for winter but summer time when it's realy hot oustide it has bad effect for...

If it has black smoke it's overfuelled and as long as you don't know exactly what ECU or tune you have and dont try with a 100% OK untuned Defender ECU you'll just chase your tail with this IMO

Buy THIS kit drive it untill the level in the tank drops then see..... if nothing visible beneath or around the engine see if the exhaust is glowing or not cos it can be a crack in the head or block where the coolant goes into the combustion chamber and burnt hence no trace of it

Check the spade connector to the starter solenoid to be tight, remove the starter relay and bridge the perpendicular cavities in the fusebox(where the relay's contact goes) if still nothing from the starter see if you get voltage to the solenoid with bridged relay and if you do the starter is...
